Obviously Schwarber hasn't played in an actual game since his April injury, but he has been cleared to hit by team doctors, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, and he has been going through vigorous workouts both in Chicago and in Arizona. Schwarber is expected to be the designated hitter tonight for the club in its game against the Salt River Rafters at Sloan Park.

The World Series starts on Tuesday in Cleveland, the Cubs enter Saturday's Game 6 of the NLCS with a 3-2 series lead on the Dodgers.

As unsafe as Schwarber may be, the Cubs may not want to risk the future of one of their most promising young players.

Such is the Cubs' postseason history that Schwarber is the franchise's all-time leading postseason home-run hitter. Some Cubs fans are sure to be concerned about whether Schwarber should be thrust into action after missing extensive time.

The slugger has been working out in Chicago prior to the team's games with the Dodgers, prompting many observes to question if an early return might be possible. In the playoffs, Schwarber hit.333 with five homers including a titanic homer in the NLDS against the Cardinals.
