Arsene Wenger ordered scouts to watch £52m striker in the Champions League

Arsenal is not Arsene Wenger.

We all know that Arsene Wenger's future is year by year (or at most, two years at a time) at this point - not out of a position of weakness, more as a recognition that at this stage in his incredible Arsenal career, he decides his own fate, for the most part.

"This is the most important (thing for him)".

"If he takes this job he would need to adapt to the new challenge, it's not really the same". So, for the moment I can not imagine Wenger working for England.

"He has an obsession, it is a passion".

Wenger and Arsenal are remarkably relaxed about the boss's position, that much is clear, but until a decision is made public one way or the other, this is a rumour that will not go away.

We are all hoping to see the consistency that has cost us league titles in recent years and with a better injury record I think we could win it, but is this talk of a treble all bit far-fetched?

Asked whether he could see himself taking his reign at Arsenal up to a quarter of a century, he said: 'I don't know. If he takes this job, it's not the same.

"Arsene Wenger loves Arsenal and this is the last season because his contract finishes, I don't know what happens but it would be a good opportunity for England, I don't know (if it would be) for Arsene Wenger".

"It is not the same job when you are manager of one club like Arsenal or for the country, seriously I don't know what he wants for the future".
