The global relations minister, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, said Namibia supports the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas), which have called on Jammeh to leave.
Countries that host Jammeh and his family members will not also be pressured, harrased and intimidated with sanctions.
Troops from regional groups Ecowas are already in the Gambia and have threatened to flush Mr Jammeh out militarily if he refuses to step aside for Mr Barrow, the declared victor of last month's election.
Regional leader made two unsuccessful attempts to convince him Jammeh to quit as an estimated 45,000 Gambians fled to neighboring Senegal.
Meanwhile, President Adama Barrow has said he would return to The Gambia on Monday.
The post Gambia's Jammeh asked to vacate sit appeared first on The Independent Uganda:.
Yahya Jammeh agreed to step down early Saturday, as he said in a national broadcast that he believes no one has to die to solve the political crisis gripping the small West African nation.
Turkey has welcomed Gambia's new president Adama Barrow on Saturday after the political crisis ended peacefully.

But others think she'll more likely choose an American designer, perhaps Ralph Lauren , whose designs she wore in the campaign. During Donald Trump's victory address, the lady was seen looking elegant and handsome in a Ralph Lauren one-shoulder jumpsuit.
Jammeh lost the presidential election in December past year to Adama Barrow but said he would not relinquish power, claiming that there had been irregularities in the vote and pushing the country to the edge of war. "Under global law in fact you can't amnesty certain crimes like torture and massive or systematic political killings", Brody says. "It's what we have been told, but the day we actually take office we will clarify all of it".
West African troops from Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana and Mali were deploying throughout Gambia on Sunday as part of efforts to secure the country and allow Barrow to take charge.
With Jammeh gone, a country that had waited in silence during the standoff sprang back to life.
The force will remain in the country "until such time the security general situation is comprehensively redressed", Barrow said in a statement.
"We are going to show Barrow we are really armed forces with a difference, I swear to God", Badjie said.
According to the U.N. refugee agency UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), about 45,000 Gambians, mainly children, had fled to Senegal since January 1.
An online petition urged that Jammeh not be granted asylum and should instead be arrested for alleged human rights abuses. Rights groups say those include arbitrary detentions, torture and even killing of opponents.
