Kelly will formally join NBC in May, according to the trade paper.

Hall's contract is coming up and NBC News is in negotiations with her reps.

Sources close to the network told the New York's Post's Page Six that Kelly - who announced she would join NBC this month after more than a decade at Fox - is expected to take over either the 9 a.m. Today hour, now hosted by Tamron Hall and Al Roker, or else the 10 a.m. hour, now hosted by Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford.

The segment Kelly will likely replace is the 9 am hour, Today's Take, which has seen a number of shake-ups in the past year-from my sweet prince Willie Geist's departure for MSNBC over the summer to Billy Bush's ill-fated stint.

Multiple outlets are reporting that the former Fox News anchor will take over the 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. slot this fall.

The network had considered an afternoon news program for Kelly, but dropped those plans after looking at the failures of past shows hosted by Anderson Cooper, Katie Couric, Meredith Vierra and Jane Pauley, Variety stated.

Page Six also reported that Hall is expected to leave NBC next month when her contract expires. And she is expected to officially start at NBC News in May. The third hour was beating every syndicated show across the board.

Sources inside NBC News disputed the notion that the 9 a.m. hour would be "canceled" to make room for Kelly.

On Thursday Roker tweeted a pointed congratulations to the "9am producers for producing the #1 morning show 7 weeks in a row!"
