Samsung Galaxy S8: Launch pegged for March 29th as new details emerge

But we may have finally gotten a look at the real McCoy. Ahead of its launch, VentureBeat has managed to get its hands on images of the Galaxy S8 smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S8 represents a great deal for Samsung, which is a return to the great device and a much-needed device to move on from the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.

The displays on both phones will allegedly include a touch-sensitive portion on the lower part of the display that'll distinguish between different screen presses, similar to Apple's 3D Touch functionality. The phones have a screen-to-body ratio of 83%. These will reportedly have a ratio of 18.5:9 and will come in 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch sizes.

Putting an end to days of speculation which have been building around the Samsung's next flagship, the Galaxy S8, tipster Evan Blass has revealed the release date of the device, confirming other features and specifications as well. The Samsung Galaxy S8 launch is expected to be held on 29th March 2017 and the phone will be unveiled globally then.

Samsung has already confirmed that it won't use Mobile World Congress as its launchpad for the S8.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset and Samsung's own Exynos chipset will definitely be used in the phones and the chipsets are expected to make the phone 11 percent faster overall than the Galaxy S7, with 23 percent faster graphic processing. Unlike the earlier rumor that one of these phones will feature a flat display, both S8s will feature a curved edge design. Blass reports that Samsung will go with 3000 and 3500 mAh batteries in the 5.8- and 6.2-inch models of the phone, respectively.

There's also a USB-C port, which was featured on the Galaxy Note 7 but not on the S7, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dedicated button for launching Samsung's new "Bixby" virtual assistant - a Siri rival. There is no clue as to when the Samsung Galaxy S8 will launch in India but the smartphone is likely to come to the country in late April.

Significantly, Evan has also revealed an image of the Galaxy S8, which shows a fairly "safe" evolution of the Galaxy S7 edge design. As of now the American pricing is not clear.
