'Cars 3' Trailer: Are Lightning McQueen's Racing Days Over?

The new "Cars 3" trailer expands on the teaser trailer from last November, showing the aftermath of Lightning McQueen's (Owen Wilson's) dramatic crash.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves.

I was a bit older when the first Cars came out, so I wasn't really interested in seeing it. The first proper trailer for Cars 3 manages to tell what appears to be the entire plot of the film in under two and a half minutes.

Pixar has given us a few chances to see footage from Cars 3 so far, and the responses have been typically mixed for a franchise that tends to divide fans of the animation powerhouse. It just might make for the best Cars movie yet.

Familiar faces from the previous "Cars" films - Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy), Sally (Bonnie Hunt), and Ramone (Cheech Marin) - all return. McQueen joins forces with Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo), an unassuming race technician who hopes to help him pull off the grandest upset of the series. There's also some brand-new characters, including Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer) and Cruz Ramirez. "Proving that #95 isn't through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing's biggest stage!"

Cars 3 comes out on June 16.
