Oilers fans at Edmonton's Mercer Tavern for Game 2 on Friday

Will the San Jose Sharks manage at win at home in Game 3 of their series with the Edmonton Oilers when the two meet tonight at 10PM ET?

Todd McLellan didn't want his players to weather the storm if the San Jose Sharks came at them like ocean-going predators or something equally unsafe - United Airlines bouncers perhaps - in the first 10 minutes, as they always do. Defenseman David Schlemko, working in the corner to the left of goalie Martin Jones, attempted to clear the puck out of the zone midway through the third period.

Kassian is the big surprise here, as his two points were both game-winning goals in low-scoring wins by the Oil.

Draisaitl started the game at wing on a line with McDavid, but Edmonton coach Todd McLellan adjusted his lines in the second period, moving Draisaitl to centre on Kassian's line. As such, it looks likely that he will play in Game 3 against the Oilers. Game 4 is Tuesday at SAP Center with Game 5 back in Edmonton on Thursday. They also dominated territorially, but Joe Pavelski missed an open net on a backhand from the slot less than five minutes in, and Chris Tierney fired high on a partial breakaway with six-and-a-half minutes to go.

Edmonton turned the tables in terms of territorial dominance while enjoying a 12-4 advantage in shots during the second period, but the game remained scoreless after 40 minutes. The Sharks outshot the Oilers for the game, 23-22. Edmonton penalty killers put up four scoring chances and scored two shorthanded goals.

About 10,000 fans poured into Edmonton's downtown arena on Sunday to watch the game on the largest scoreboard in any rink in the National Hockey League.

The biggest area of consternation entering play Sunday was the Sharks' futility on the power play.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Connor McDavid carried the Edmonton Oilers back to the playoffs after a decade-long drought.

Thornton isn't quite the player he used to be with just seven goals in 79 games this season, but the former Hart Trophy victor finished second on the team this year with 43 assists.
