Can the Bruins take Game 6 from the Senators? NHL Predictions 4/23/17

Ottawa Senators Clarke Mac Arthur celebrates his goal with teammate Bobby Ryan as Boston Bruins Riley Nash looks on during overtime in game six of a first-round NHL hockey Stanley Cup playoff series Sunday

His decision to stick around for a playoff push paid off in a big way.

Sean Kuraly's second goal of the game at 10:19 of the second overtime gave the Boston Bruins a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators in Game 5 on Friday night, avoiding elimination in the first-round series.

Clarke MacArthur spent nearly two full seasons recovering from a concussion, wondering if he would ever be able to return to the Senators. "But at the same time, very proud of everyone", Patrice Bergeron said. Capitals coach Barry Trotz said the closeness of the series is a credit to the parity in the National Hockey League and Toronto's young stars like Auston Matthews and William Nylander.

David Pastrnak is usually the brightest light with the Boston Bruins.

But Ryan tied it for Ottawa on a power play early in the second, then Turris gave the Senators a 2-1 lead about five minutes later.

Ryan and Kyle Turris also scored for the Senators and Craig Anderson made 28 saves. It was the fourth overtime game in the series. In a coin-flip series where one bounce could decide a potential Game 7, the Capitals want to close out the pesky Maple Leafs in six. NY has the speed advantage and Henrik Lundqvist is playing like a Conn Smythe contender. Carlo didn't play at all in the series and McQuaid left Game 2 and didn't return. The Senators won two of three regular-season meetings against the Rangers this year.

During the power play, it was MacArthur who scored the power play goal to win the game for the Senators 3-2 and end the series.

Boston's first goal was set up by a wraparound attempt by Brad Marchand that was initially stopped by Anderson.

Mitchell Trubisky's bar is set at Rex Grossman, not Jay Cutler
Trubisky is unproven, and likely did not warrant a top pick given the other glaring needs the Bears have at other positions. The Chicago Bears select Adam Shaheen in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft after trading down from No. 36 overall.

Penguins star Crosby leaves following hit to head
It offered an encouraging sign for the Capitals as the margin for error is only getting smaller as the series rolls along. That was momentarily erased in the final two minutes of regulation, and then salvaged in overtime.

Ontario budget promises free prescription drugs for everyone under 25
"I'm proud that, we as a government, we're investing $11.5 billion more in health care generally throughout the system". You need to have a plan that consolidates these eight different plans and provides the best coverage possible.

- Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask had a.919 save percentage in the series.

The Ottawa Senators will begin their second-round playoff series at home on Thursday night while the Edmonton Oilers start theirs on the road Wednesday.

"We battled hard", Rask said.

The Senators benefited from a couple of no-goal calls to get through overtime. "It was a hard-fought series and just didn't go our way".

The Bruins made the playoffs for the first time in three seasons, rallying after firing the winningest coach in franchise history and the one that led them to the 2011 Stanley Cup title.

The difference so far has been the power play, where the Capitals are 5 for 15 and the Maple Leafs are 3 for 17.

But if it's a fait accompli - as the terrific job he did in getting this team into the playoffs would suggest - Cassidy did a good job of hiding it.

This is getting a little too far ahead, but even if we assume the Capitals will build off their Friday night OT win, the fourth extra-period battle between the teams this postseason, we can not assume the Maple Leafs won't take the series to seven games. It was Bergeron's first goal of the playoffs. They missed Torey Krug (and badly) there, as the club could not find the go-ahead goal with a late-game power-play opportunity in the third period of a tied Game 6. They eliminated the Atlantic Division champion Montreal Canadiens in six games. D Fredrik Claesson was added to the lineup. "I think giving (Wideman) a little break will help him", Sens coach Guy Boucher said. Ottawa will get to play game 1 against NY on their home ice at the Canadian Tire Centre.
