Fox looks to sci-fi, fantasy this fall; MacFarlane in space

There are no qualms that this show is exactly what it is, a spoof of Star Trek, and adding in the romantic dynamic is a fun touch.

The Orville, created by and starring Seth MacFarlane, is a Star Trek-style series about the human and alien crew of an exploratory spaceship 400 years in the future.

The official trailer for The Orville has already been released.

The Orville will air in the USA later this year on Fox.

Fox also has the buddy cop comedy "Ghosted", starring "Hot Tub Time Machine 2" co-stars Craig Robinson and Adam Scott, airing Sundays between "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy".

A new Marvel series from writer-director-executive producer Bryan Singer ("The X-Men"), "The Gifted" is the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the discovery that their children are anything but ordinary.

Ghosted features the former stars of The Office and Parks and Recreation as unwitting partners recruited by the Bureau Underground to investigate paranormal activities. The next season of The X-Files will be held as a mid-season debut.

The show looks to be full of MacFarlane's trademark wit and sarcasm, and I'll admit I chuckled at the bit about how often an alien race urinates.

"So maybe it should be 'This is Unlike Us, '" Meyers joked. "I think it's safe to assume we have been cancelled", he tweeted.
