NFL cuts OT from 15 minutes to 10, citing player safety

The NFL announced on Tuesday that its players will have more freedom of expression in 2017 as it will ease up on their previous rules regarding celebrations.

With OTAs - organized team activities - underway as part of offseason training, it wouldn't be surprising if ideas for new and hilarious group demonstrations are starting to percolate.

"I always planned all my celebrations", said Denver's Emmanuel Sanders, already known for his flamboyant TD celebrations, including one that drew a fine last season.

At least we are getting closer, Roger.

The NFL would have needed to waive a rule that prohibits a Super Bowl being played at a stadium before it has hosted two full regular seasons.

Another is going to allow teams to bring two players back from injured reserve each season, per multiple reports.

For all the maneuvering, end zone celebration talk generated the most buzz. Roger Goodell released a letter to address celebrations around the league. Tampa Bay, the runnerup in National Football League owners' voting for LV, will stage the 2020 championship game at Raymond James Stadium. That opens up the possibility, albeit unlikely, that a team receiving the overtime kickoff can use up all 10 minutes just to kick a winning field goal. If overtime had ended after 10 minutes, there would have been 16 total ties, for an average of 3.2 times over a 512-game season. According to Jeanna Thomas, the NFL's competition committee recommended this shortened overtime rule so that players have a better chance to recover before playing their next game.

Trump embraces Israel, but Russian ties still trail him
But Trump departed for Europe having offered no real indication of a path forward on one of the world's most intractable disputes. President Trump landed in Tel Aviv, Israel, on May 22, as part of his first worldwide trip as president.

JP Morgan Raises Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) Stock To a "Overweight" Rating
Cowen and Company reduced their price target on shares of QUALCOMM to $73.00 in a research note on Thursday, January 26th. The company had revenue of $5.99 billion during the quarter, compared to the consensus estimate of $5.86 billion.

Hinting at secret tapes, Trump warns ousted Federal Bureau of Investigation director
For example, White House press secretary Sean Spicer has said the president fired Comey because he was advised to do so. The face-to-face meeting between the president and the director raised other concerns.

The No Fun League is taking some of its entertainment cred back. Projections show that could climb to three. Texans head coach Bill O'Brien disagrees, instead expecting teams to be more aggressive in overtime. "In the past week, we have worked with the NFL on the resolution that was presented today and are supportive of the NFL Owners' decision to play Super Bowl LV in Tampa and to have Los Angeles host Super Bowl LVI in 2022".

"We want to be sure that we do everything right, 100 percent", he said after the meetings.

Tampa originally finished as runner-up in the bidding for 2020 - one reason why owners backed the move unanimously.

Now, before we crown Roger Goodell the new cool dad of the National Football League letting the kids have their fun, he of course has his limits. He welcomed the looser guidelines, also endorsed by Falcons President Rich McKay, who heads the National Football League competition committee. Previously, those celebrations resulted in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Here are the specific rule changes: the ball will no longer be considered a prop (seriously, about time). It was also undoubtedly a win for fans who thought the league was taking the fun out of its game.

The last week of the preseason should be a bit more exciting for Minnesota's fans to watch as even more players will be fighting for a regular season roster spot during that game.
