Proposed Federal Budget Includes $61 Million Reimbursement For Trump Security Costs

Also tucked in there: $68 million for New York City and other municipalities for security costs related to protecting Donald Trump. The spending deal is expected to pass Congress after votes later this week. Chuck Schumer said the city should refuse to provide police protection for the First Lady and Barron Trump unless Congress agreed to cover the expense, and sought a way to put it in the budget with Democratic Rep. Nita Lowey of Westchester.

Schumer said he believes that New York City and Long Island homeowners are in "tax jeopardy" as Trump's new tax plan proposes eliminating state and local property tax deductions.

But while Trump spent the bulk of his time before becoming president in NY, he also stayed at his estate in Florida and his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The city received $7 million for Trump security from the stop-gap spending plan passed past year, despite having asked for $35 Blasio and NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill continued to push for further funding, despite revising the figure for the interstice between November and January down to $25.7 million. More than half a million people signed a petition demanding the first lady pay her own security costs in NY.

What grade do the Cardinals get through 3 rounds of the draft?
Arians said he sees a lot of the Denver Broncos' Von Miller in Reddick , which could be scary good for the Cardinals. He's 6-foot-2, 245 pounds, he ran a sub 4.5 (40-yard dash), he's explosive, he's got a great first step.

"We are getting what we are owed", de Blasio said in a statement released by his office.

President Trump has not been in the city since January 20, but first lady Melania Trump and their son Barron live in Trump Tower. Of their $60 million, $34 goes to personnel costs associated with protecting Trump and the first family, including his adult children. "We're very honored to have the president here, but at the same time, his travel here is such high frequency he's not visiting Palm Beach County - he's governing from it", County Commissioner Dave Kerner told Money magazine.

The $61 million is earmarked to reimburse local law enforcement wherever the president resides and the $41 million, the period until September 30, 2018. "That's good news for our city and the hardworking police officers faced with this unprecedented security challenge".

The other $60 million will reimburse localities like New York City and Florida's Palm Beach County in "recognition of the extraordinary costs borne by a small number of jurisdictions in which a residence of the president is located", according to the legislation as reported by the Times. That figure more than doubles to an average cost of $308,000 per day whenever the president is in town.
