Mr Trump said he had "an absolute right" to share "facts pertaining to terrorism" and airline with safety with Russian Federation, with the information, relating to a plot by terror group Islamic State, having been supplied to the U.S. by Israel under an intelligence-sharing agreement.
Her statement comes after US President Donald Trump was accused of sharing highly classified data during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov last week.
However, he did not tell whether it was highly classified.
He said that it seems that "political schizophrenia" is developing in the U.S. amid such media claims.
The White House on Tuesday defended Trump discussing with the Russians an Islamic State group terror threat related to the use of laptop computers on aircraft.
No media were allowed into the meeting except a Russian state photographer, and the White House was apparently tricked into him letting him in.
However, Danny Yatom, a former director of Mossad, reportedly told the Jerusalem Post that merely obtaining high-quality sensitive intelligence could help a hostile power to trace its source.
Comey's memo - an apparent effort to create a paper trail of his contacts with the White House - would be evidence that president has tried to influence the investigation.
Embattled White House lurches from crisis to crisis
The person who described the Comey memo to the AP was not authorized to discuss it by name and spoke on condition of anonymity. Then there was the Comey firing itself, which Trump even admitted had something to do with the Russian investigation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has since offered to provide the Russian transcripts of the meeting.
The fresh USA crisis sank the dollar early Wednesday as well as Hong Kong stocks amid worries that Trump's economy-boosting and tax-cutting agenda could be derailed, with some experts mentioning possible impeachment. "I say to all of my colleagues in the Senate - history is watching", he cautioned.
Asked if she had confidence in the USA president, May said Britain's "special relationship" with the United States was the "most important defense and security relationship" it had around the world.
National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster called Trump's discussion with Russian diplomats "wholly appropriate".
On the Russian intelligence controversy, the Tories say it doesn't warrant a review of our information sharing agreement with the USA, adding it's far more risky to withhold info form our allies than to have some of it leaked.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed the ongoing scandal around President Donald Trump sharing classified intelligence with Russian officials as "political schizophrenia".
Israel meanwhile sought to contain fallout from Trump's sharing of its intelligence with Russian Federation, while not commenting directly on the move.
Under current U.S. law, the president has the power to declassify information as he or she sees fit.
