Juxtapose that with Disney (DIS) or Time Warner's (TWX) Warner Bros., which have each released three films that have topped $150 million at the US box office, and it becomes clear that Paramount is under pressure to perform. You half expect one of the maimed soldiers to start screaming, "But I'm not dead yet". The rest of this five entry franchise is an exhaustive, incoherent mess in the eyes of fans of the old series of cartoons and toys and fans of craft of film. If you are not a fan of the franchise or or Michael Bay's directorial style generally, this film will not change your mind about either.
Michael Bay has finally done it. Probably longer than one thinks. It has now been a decade since the first film smashed its way onto the big screen and thus began the countless sequels we have enjoyed/endured in the years since. Well, it goes something like this: Some 1,600 years ago, King Arthur and his knights were about to be overrun by their enemies, but Merlin goes to an old spaceship to ask some ancient Transformers for assistance. While back on earth, astronomer Sir Edmond Burton (Hopkins), the keeper of the Transformers legacy with humans, recruits Yeager and Oxford professor Viviane Wembley (Laura Haddock) to find the Merlin staff and save the world.
Meanwhile, after drifting around space for a bit, Optimus Prime lands on a giant space broccoli that is apparently Cybertron, the Transformers' homeworld.
Never say never again! In this episode, Cade discovers that the Transformers have been around since Arthurian times - cue the mud-spattered flashbacks - and it turns out he must carry the torch of knighthood into the present day.
One thing's clear: Whatever you think about the Transformers' films, Paramount's not making these movies for the U.S. anymore.

Paddy Barnes: I'd love to see Conor McGregor knock out Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather will come off a two-year retirement in a bout that McGregor has been pushing for almost that long. Honestly, did you expect anything less from Sheri's Ranch for an event being tabbed "The Money Fight? ".
"Transformers: The Last Knight", starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Michael Bay, opened at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at 546 locations for 3D Imax and RealD large format showings, then expanded to the remaining locations an hour later.
Steve Persall of Tampa Bay Times said: "That's the only way to explain the feeling that Transformers: The Last Knight isn't almost as painful to sit through as Bay's four previous exploding toy boxes".
A preview of the film. Unlike his elder statesman characters in "Westworld" and "Thor", Hopkins doesn't appear to just be doing this for a paycheck.
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT, from Paramount Pictures. If you're coming to see a Transformers movie, chances are you want to see robots kicking each other's butts.
