"Listing a male player on a girls team roster is a violation of state and tournament rules", said the soccer club.

Something tells us Hernandez would trade all those accolades for the opportunity to play with her club and compete for the Springfield tourney title. A registrar's error which listed Hernandez as a boy convinced organizers her team had broken the rules, even though her father showed them her health insurance card as proof of her gender.

Several prominent women's soccer players are voicing their support for Hernandez on social media, including Abby Wambach and Mia Hamm, the top two goal scorers in USA women's national team history.

WOWT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2sc1tt9 ) Mili Hernandez's team had advanced to the finals of the tournament when it was suddenly disqualified.

"Just because I look like a boy doesn't mean I am a boy", she explained. As any child would do, Mili cried for her team after the organizers alerted the team.

"When my hair starts to grow I put it short because I've always had short hair", she said.

Saina bows out, Sai Praneeth advances to final in Thailand
However, the London Olympic bronze medallist has not had a good season, barring her Malaysia Masters win earlier this year. Saina made her task hard by committing a large number of unforced errors in the second game of her match .

Torres said: "Even if it was a mistake, they did not need to humiliate her or kick the entire team off the field".

Her family said they thought the mix-up would be easy to resolve because Mili is, in fact a girl and was playing on an all-girls team.

"Mili, don't EVER let anyone tell you that you aren't ideal just as you are. i won championships with short hair". The team played three games and were scheduled to play in the semi-finals on Sunday. "There's other tournaments that I can play", she added. The girl wears her hair cut short. "We believe that this needs to be a learning moment for everyone involved with soccer in our state and are working directly with our clubs and tournament officials to ensure that this does not happen again".

Wambach says on social media that she's "won championships" with her own short haircut and wants to meet the girl.

According to WOWT, the Hernandez family were told that they can file an appeal to the Nebraska State Soccer association to challenge the disqualification.

And Billie Jean King, once a top women's tennis player, tweeted, "Mili, continue to be yourself, dream big and go for it. Take Mia up on her offer".
