President Trump Affirms Commitment to NATO's Article 5

Donald Trump

Trump aggressively addressed some questions during the bilateral news conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Friday, but coyly answered others.

A defiant President Donald Trump said Friday he was willing to testify under oath about his conversations with James Comey, further fueling the swirling controversy ignited by the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director's bombshell testimony before the Senate on Thursday. The president also denied asking Comey to back off the investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn. In a tweet, Trump called Comey a "leaker". "It's my honor", US President Donald Trump said before his meeting with the Romanian President. I have no idea why Trump created the idea of taped conversations if he didn't have any tapes but I don't understand anything that this president does. This is arguably the most moonwalking-ass administration ever in the history of president-ing, so I don't believe anything that the president says. I'm not going to say, 'I want you to pledge allegiance.' Who would do that? Trump called on ABC News' Jonathan Karl after bragging to Iohannis about the number of reporters in attendance, expressing a desire to sell the spectacle's broadcasting rights, regurgitating his favorite talking point that television reporters are fake news, and longing for his days as a private citizen.

Trump concluded his team emerged "very happy" after Comey's testimony.

While Comey said Trump had lied about him, Trump didn't use that exact terminology in return on Friday.

The president said Comey's testimony on Thursday before the Senate Intelligence Committee mostly vindicated his previous claims about their interactions. "That was an excuse by the Democrats, who lost an election they shouldn't have lost", Trump said.

'But yes, absolutely I'd be committed to Article 5, ' he said.

Envoy Haley says US won't let the UN 'bully' Israel anymore
The president of Israel thanked Haley, and said with the backing of President Trump the discourse of Israel can finally change. Yet while there has been some improvement with the UN's obsession with targeting Israel, "we have a long way to go", he added.

But if any doubt remained, Karl settled it by asking if Trump would speak to Special Counsel Robert Mueller on the same topics-a conversation that, assuming it's a formal deposition, would take place under oath.

"In my opinion, we have to be very clear, very simple, very straightforward if we talk about Russian Federation, and with Russian Federation", he said.

Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, said he believed Comey was more trustworthy. Trump said that this is the beginning of the end in funding terrorism, and hopefully, it is the beginning of the end of terrorism.

"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication", Trump wrote, suggesting that Comey had committed perjury.

Now that Trump has issued a clear commitment to Article V, hopefully the same media outlets that highlighted its earlier omission will give the same amount of time and space to Trump's recovery.
