Trump again acknowledges he's under investigation

The Post reported on Wednesday that Mueller was investigating Trump to prove whether the president attempted to obstruct justice.

Trump later said in interviews he had planned to fire Comey anyway, and in an NBC interview said he had the Russian Federation investigation in mind when he chose to dismiss the FBI director.

Vice President Mike Pence will soon lead the US if President Donald Trump fires Russian Federation investigation special counsel Robert Mueller, a Bush administration ethics lawyer said Saturday.

Trump fired Comey in May, just as the FBI was investigating ties between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

It is not clear, however, if Trump was referring in Friday's tweet to Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who wrote a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions recommending that the president fire Comey.

The White House confirmed Mr Mueller was among the candidates the president interviewed to replace Mr Comey.

Later, that position was contradicted by the President himself, in an interview with NBC's Lester Holt, when he stated that he had made up his mind to fire Comey before he had even seen the Rosenstein memo.

Confidants and advisers close to Mr Trump said his fury was mounting at the probe and he had been yelling at TV sets about its press coverage.
