Daniel Cormier breaks silence on 'disappointing' UFC 214 loss to Jon Jones

Las Vegas. Jones is scheduled to fight Ovince Saint Preux in an interim light heavyweight title bout Saturday in Las Vegas

On Saturday night at UFC 214, Jon Jones pummeled his longtime rival Daniel Cormier into unconsciousness and followed it up by calling out WWE superstar and occasional cage fighter Brock Lesnar.

Jones (23-1), of Albuquerque, N.M., used a violent head kick flush on the jaw to win what had been a back-and-forth fight via knockout at 3:01 of the third round.

An emotional Daniel Cormier stated that he does not believe he has a rivalry with Jones because he lost both fights; however, most analyst and fans disagree.

"To be honest with you, I have no clue where this Brock Lesnar situation came from, how it started" Jones explained. Last time he fought he was granted a testing exemption, which resulted in two failed drug tests, a suspension and a civil lawsuit filed by his opponent.

Jon Jones is back on top of the world. Considering that these are two brawlers going head-to-head, this was the fight all MMA fans were looking forward to the most apart from the main event.

"Be careful what you wish for, young man", former heavyweight champion Lesnar responded via the Associated Press just minutes later.

What a night for the new champion. For one, Jones himself has said he's some 40 pounds lighter than Lesnar, and so he would obviously need to bulk up to get to the heavyweight division. He is a model champion, and I aspire to be more like that man.

Woodley was able to avoid takedown attempt after takedown attempt from Maia, and stayed patient in picking when to strike to claim a unanimous decision. The challenge was for a vacant women's featherweight title.

"This is my moment", offered Jones following the fight. "Anybody at home who let yourself down, let your family down, let your peers down, your co-workers down, it's never over, as long as you never quit it's never over".

Cormier was knocked out cold by Jones' third round onslaught, with the 38-year-old left in tears afterwards at suffering another defeat to his fellow American. "People were always doubting me and each fight I prove them wrong - I really like it".

The fight was competitive early on, as Jones opened up with a bevvy of kicks, attacking Cormier's body and legs.
