Woman says "Yes" to proposal during arrest

Police officers were in the process of arresting 35-year-old Brandon Thompson on felony warrants when he asked them if the proposal to his girlfriend could be done before they took him away. The video caught with police body camera shows the touching moment. "But I knew I was gonna say yes", Keith said to News On 6. "Can I propose to her?"

Before officers arrived, Thompson was celebrating his birthday and the Fourth of July with family.

He was arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear in court.

Thompson then asked an officer for help sealing the deal. "The officer said, 'You want to do what?' and I said, 'I want to propose to her'".

The officers present on the scene were surprised with Mr Thompson's request but allowed him to go ahead with the proposal.

Thompson's mother can be seen in the footage, insisting his son to "do it now" before asking him to get the ring. "I love you", Thompson is heard saying. "Will you be my wife, please?" Nevertheless, she said yes and later bailed Thompson out after his arrest. "I wanted a new start for me and with the police taking me to jail I didn't have to worry about my warrants anymore".

Thompson told CNN he's exhausted of running and plans to turn his life around. "I know that he loves me and I love him and we can get through anything together", Keith said.

Thompson is next in court on July 17.
