Odell Beckham in danger of missing season opener

Brandon Marshall

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano and Jordan Raanan, Giants superstar Odell Beckham Jr.'s availability is in jeopardy for the September 10th matchup at AT&T Stadium to kick off the 2017 season for both teams.

The Giants kick off the regular season against the Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Beckham was injured when he absorbed a low hit from Browns cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun during the Giants-Browns preseason clash on Monday night. Marshall hurt his shoulder in the first quarter but stayed in the game.

At first glance, the injury looked a lot worse than just a sprained ankle. And now Beckham reportedly is prepared to take out an insurance policy to protect himself in case he and the Giants don't come to an agreement on a contract extension, according to Yahoo!

One of the biggest topics of the National Football League this offseason was, will the New York Giants offer Beckham a pretty hefty contract extension?

Justin Bieber Drops 'Friends,' New Song With Producer Bloodpop
Bieber's clearly been excited about the song's release, as his Instagram page is filled with posts promoting the single. It is yet unknown whether the track is a standalone single or the first offering from the singer's fifth studio album.

McAdoo wouldn't rule out Beckham next week, but it's likely we've seen the last of the superstar receiver until the regular season.

"I was just trying to hit him low, hit him in the target area, which is from the neck to the knee", Boddy-Calhoun told reporters. He then took to Twitter.

Giants safety Landon Collins had words with Boddy-Calhoun during the game. Beckham also said after he didn't think the play was dirty.

"We were just praying over the country and praying over things going on", Kirksey said. It revealed the three-time Pro Bowler had a sprained left ankle. Boddy-Calhoun undoubtedly could have delivered a shoulder or helmet to the ribs of Beckham in an attempt to force a drop, and there would be no morning-after debate in the football world. I'd like to see him complete the shallow cross to (wide receiver) Sterling Shepard in the red zone.

Regardless your feelings on the hit, we can all agree it's good news that the outcome didn't have a worse result.
