Iowa's James Butler

Wyoming freshman punter Tim Zaleski just gave us the first great viral blooper of the new college football season with his gaffe in the Cowboys' season opener at Iowa.

Late in the second quarter, with Wyoming down 7-3, the true freshman just needed to connect on a punt, push the Hawkeyes down the field and essentially end the first half. Iowa scored a touchdown with 22 seconds remaining, giving it a 14-3 halftime lead.

Allen and the University of Wyoming offense had a much different look during a 24-3 loss at Iowa in front of 68,075 at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday - and it wasn't a good look.

Allen got to hear all about how good he is, too.

Wyoming's defense forced four turnovers. The Cowboys finished with 233 total yards Saturday after averaging 434.5 last season. "We couldn't get a running game established".

Later in the first quarter, Cowboys forced a fumble and they recovered it. The redshirt junior Texas native played his best game in the black & gold. He had a career-high 10 tackles for UW and added a sack along with a forced fumble. A third down pass from Allen to sophomore C.J. Johnson that also saw a 15-yard penalty by the Hawkeyes helped put the Pokes in field goal range. "They'll be probably the best defense we see all year". Rico Gafford came up big with a one handed interception.

Stanley's third touchdown pass came to Nick Easley from 45 yards out to make it 21-3 about midway through the third period. "Those things like that are hard to shake off, and I try my best". Wyoming took over with 50 seconds left in the half, but its drive was killed by a blatant intentional grounding on Allen's part.
