Giants' Odell Beckham practices Thursday for the first time in three weeks

New York Giants 'Optimistic' Odell Beckham Jr. Will Play Monday Night

According to Ian Rapoport of, the New York Giants are "optimistic" that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will be ready to go this week vs. the Detroit Lions. The injury seemed to be a high ankle sprain, which typically sees players return anywhere from 4-8 weeks, so maybe this was some gamesmanship.

Following practice, coach Ben McAdoo was asked about Beckham's reported dance-off with National Basketball Association star Russell Westbrook last week. "We'll be fine. We just have to slow down, everybody take a breath and just run the plays the way we've been running them all spring and all summer". The Giants completed only four of 12 on third down.

"I'm not a doctor, really", Beckham said. "You never know. Everybody heals differently". "Every time I turn around, somebody is asking us what is wrong with the O-line".

Two important notes here: One, there wasn't much space despite the fact Pierre-Paul sold out on the outside pass rush because Elliott was wrapped up by B.J. Goodson before he got to the line of scrimmage; and Two, that cut to the outside covered over five yards, which is an incredible feat in itself, but another factor in just how hard this play was to make. That doesn't mean it has been enjoyable. Big wins like the Chiefs' rout of New England last week to open their season. The Giants had two first downs in the first half and finished with three points.

Crude Oil Market Higher on Hurricane Impact
West Texas Intermediate for October delivery added 20 cents to $48.27 a barrel at 1:06 p.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It had traded down to $47.73. "Irma will have a negative impact on oil demand but not on oil production or processing".

Final Cowboys-Giants injury report: Hitchens out, Beckham questionable
He gained 107 yards in their second meeting last season but keep in mind that was without the star defensive lineman on the field. If he is able to play, numberFire's models project Beckham to haul in 6.6 catches for 88.4 yards and 0.72 touchdowns in Week 1.

Beckham would not speculate on whether he would be able to play this week.

"It was a full-on dance battle", Beckham said sarcastically.

"We anticipate he will play", Caldwell said during a conference call. You're going to get coached up and there's things we can clean up, for sure, but you can't get defensive, can't get sensitive. Nobody wants to do that and definitely don't want to work all offseason and everything to get to Dallas and have to sit there and watch. "I don't know how it got blocked".

But he also warned he didn't want this to be like his rookie season, when he returned early from a hamstring injury and suffered a setback. At least, that's what it looked like to me because it was going right down the middle. "And you don't have to worry about it".
