A poor choice of words?

No. 3 Penn State had one thing on its mind Sunday: revenge. But for us, this was just like beating Akron.

That dropped a few jaws in the media roo and led to the inevitable follow-up question about how such a statement might play in Pittsburgh. He acknowledged hearing some gasps, too.

It may not play in Pittsburgh, but Franklin stood behind his comment as an extension of his coaching staff's philosophy: The next game on the schedule is the biggest of the season.

"This was cool", said wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton, who dropped a pass behind the Pitt defense past year in the fourth quarter. "Each win is like the Super Bowl for us. We were happy to win, but there were no hard feelings". They held onto that win all season.

"You can interpret it however you want".
