Jaish-e-Mohammad's 'Afzal Guru Squad' Behind BSF Camp Attack in Srinagar

Suicide attack on BSF camp at Srinagar

A couple of militants have reportedly attacked the Border Security Force (BSF) camp near Srinagar International Airport at Gogo Humhama on Tuesday morning.

"The timely detection of fidayeen averted major tragedy", he said adding other sentries and BSF men and officials in the barracks also got alerted to tackle the militants.

After all three were killed by Tuesday afternoon, Inspector-General of Jammu and Kashmir Police (Kashmir Range) Muneer Khan made a candid admission: "such attacks will keep on happening".

IGP Khan said such attacks will not end. In August, at least eight Indian police officials were killed when militants attacked a security camp in southern Kashmir.

Security agencies have identified the Jaish-e-Mohammed group commander who planned the attack on a Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Srinagar this week, Home Ministry sources said on Wednesday.

"The firing is going on".

Turnout high as Iraqi Kurds defy threats to hold independence vote
Iran has a Kurdish population, but they have not experienced the same level of violence as Kurds in Turkey and Syria have in recent years.

This is the second such attack carried out by the terror outfit recently, after the attack carried one on the district police line in Pulwama.

Intelligence inputs indicate that with local terrorists not able to carry out terror strikes there is an increased attempt by Pakistani terrorists to infiltrate Kashmir and target security forces and their establishments. The three injured security personnel are being treated in hospitals.

The third terrorist of the fidayeen squad, wearing combat uniform like the other two, had taken position with the forces and had trained his gun in the same direction as the soldiers. "We will defeat proxy war let loose by Pakistan and Pakistan-sponsored militants in Jammu and Kashmir", he said.

Four BSF men were injured at the gate and ASI B Yadav succumbed later. Sources in BSF told Mirror that the terrorists have positioned themselves inside barracks of the BSF and there was heavy exchange of gunfire between the two sides.

Kumar said that the flights were initially delayed at the airport due to the attack.
