NFL Betting Odds Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has been hurting this week because of an ankle injury

Working exclusively out of the shotgun because of his sore right ankle, Stafford was crushed in the end zone by defensive end Alex Okafor, and Vaccaro recovered to put New Orleans up 7-0.

Prior to Sunday's matchup with the New Orleans Saints, a real argument could be made that the Detroit Lions could be undefeated and considered the top team in the NFL.

While the Lions turned what appeared to be a blowout into a relatively close game, their comeback was fueled by a 58-yard punt return by Thomas Morstead and a pick six of their own by A'Shawn Robinson. Luckily for Detroit, Stafford will play with the injury and try to lead the team to its fourth win of the season.

The Lions suffered a 52-38 defeat at the hands of the Saints over the weekend.

What's unsettling for the wide-open NFC is that the Saints' win came despite a mediocre performance by Drew Brees, who finished 20 of 30 for 186 yards, one touchdown and one INT.

In winning their third consecutive game, the Saints rose above the.500 mark for the first time since finishing 11-5 at the end of the 2013 regular season - a span of 1,386 days.

New Orleans once again retaliated with the clock winding down, this time with a 2-yard scoring run by Ingram for a 31-10 count with 1:48 until intermission.

Of course, Detroit started the game without starting left tackle Taylor Decker, right guard T.J. Lang, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and defensive end Kerry Hyder, Jr., leaving unknowns like Brian Mihalik and Tim Lelito trying to keep the NFL's highest-paid player safe. Kamara had 10 carries for 75 yards and four catches for 12 yards - plus a spectacular hurdle over Lions cornerback Darius Slay. He created a couple more big plays in the first half, and he was pushed out at the one in the second quarter.

The New Orleans defense scored three of the team's seven touchdowns, all at crucial points in the game. S Glover Quin went out with a head injury and WR Golden Tate left with a shoulder injury.
