'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie zooms to Paramount

A hybrid CG-animated/live-action feature, the movie will be written by Patrick Casey and Josh Miller and produced by Neal H. Moritz through his Original Film banner, along with Marza Animation Planet's Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi. Moritz, Miller, and Fowler have stuck with the project since it was first being developed by Sony, which acquired the film rights from SEGA in 2013. Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will serve as co-producers.

Miller, however, won't be helming the "Sonic the Hedgehog" live-action flick.

Gamers everywhere will rejoice to hear that Sonic The Hedgehog is racing his way to the big screen.

Although the massive worldwide appeal of video-games have raked in huge box-office numbers for movies like the Tomb Raider duology, Mortal Kombat and the Resident Evil series, the cinematic adaptations have never been able to match the source material's critical success. This is especially true considering the fact that this movie is reportedly going to be part live-action and part CGI.

Gosling also played a gangster in love with a chicken (Bryant) - he cracked up when they had problems with a prop gun. Overall, the entire episode felt like the team is determined to repeat a successful formula found in Season 42.

"Sonic the Hedgehog" is one of the most recognizable icons in the video game industry, as titles from the franchise go way back to 1991. In fact, the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog comic holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running comic book series that's based on a video game.
