To buy a digital gift card, Steam members can simply sign into their account and choose an amount and a friend to send the funds to.

Physical Steam Gift Cards have been available for purchase in retail stores for quite some time, allowing Steam users to gift money to other users' Steam Wallets.

The launch does come with a couple of restrictions, however. These cards first appeared in the United Kingdom back in December 2013, though even before that you could pop into some games retailers to hand over cash for steam wallet codes - in a similar way that you might have topped up a PAYG phone.
