Trump demands border wall for 'Dreamer' deal

Colorado DREAMERS not pleased with Trump DACA demands

The demands sent to lawmakers Sunday call for limiting family-based green cards to spouses and the minor children of USA citizens and lawful permanent residents.

The list of priorities included several deal-breakers from congressional Democrats, such as funding for a border wall and withholding federal grants from so-called "sanctuary cities".

What's more, people who would benefit from the codification of DACA ― the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that President Barack Obama started and Trump abruptly canceled last month ― would not be eligible to apply for citizenship, the second official said.

Fast-forward to Sunday, when senior Trump administration officials offered their early demands for an immigration bill - one that preserves DACA at a steep price for its supporters.

They accused Mr Trump of backtracking on a commitment not to include the border wall in negotiations over the status of young immigrants, who are mostly from Mexico and other Latin American countries.

About 690,000 recipients are now enrolled in the program, and their work permits are due to expire in March 2018.

As expected, Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi decried the proposal, telling the president that's not what they were promised.

Cruz , played by Melissa Villasenor , begged for help sooner, but " Trump " admonished her, "You should have paid your bills". And the USA military is working with Puerto Rican officials and the island's National Guard to reach those still cut off.

Although the future of Dreamers is unclear, Trump has given Congress six months to act.

Trump had previously said he wanted "massive" border security as part of any deal to protect the Dreamers, undocumented immigrants brought to the children. Trump also demands to ban immigrants from bringing extended members of the family into the country. Pelosi and Schumer said in a joint statement, "The proposal fails to represent any attempt at a compromise". "Allowing extreme factions within the administration to undermine the president's solid word of commitment to Dreamers would put an end to the most passable immigration reform proposal we've seen come out of Congress in decades", said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, an immigration advocacy group.

Despite the vagueness, Democrats portrayed that as a capitulation to Trump and a move toward a misguided, costly and relatively ineffective approach to border security. Now the President tells us it's the Dreamers.

After an enormous outcry, Trump undermined his AG, as he is wont to do, and met with Democratic leaders to discuss a possible deal to protect the "Dreamers".

The statement goes on to say the border wall had been explicitly ruled out of negotiations regarding DACA.

"It is immoral for the President to use the lives of these young people as bargaining chips in his quest to impose his cruel, anti-immigrant and un-American agenda on our nation", Grisham said.
