Carter Page Coordinated Russia Trip With Top Trump Campaign Officials

A former foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump's campaign has told a House committee he had contact with a high-level Russian official while on a trip to Russia previous year.

Feinstein, who is also a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said she had not seen any evidence that any "dirt" regarding emails linked to Hillary Clinton, which court records said Papadopoulos discussed with a foreign contact close to the Russian government, was given to the Trump campaign.

Page described the conversation to CNN after he finished talking to the House intelligence committee.

The letter cites several times when Sessions testified at congressional hearings and had different responses about the campaign's meetings with Russian officials.

Manafort, who ran Trump's presidential campaign for several months previous year, and associate Richard Gates pleaded not guilty last week to a 12-count indictment by a federal grand jury.

Page has consistently dismissed investigations into that country's interference in the US presidential election, referring to them as a "witch hunt". "In his testimony, however, he was forced to acknowledge that he communicated with high level Russian officials while in Moscow, including one of Russia's Deputy Prime Ministers".

"In a private conversation, Dvorkovich expressed strong support for Mr. Trump and a desire to work together toward devising better solutions in response to the vast range of current global problems", Page wrote, according to Schiff. He maintained that his interaction with Dvorkovich consisted of a brief greeting, and that he had learned his views on the campaign while listening to Dvorkovich's public address. The committee released the transcript of the seven-hour session late Monday. Sessions has recused himself from Russian matters as head of the Justice Department because he was a top policy adviser during the Trump campaign.

"I'm not going to say whether it was a lie or not", Feinstein said.

Israel Neutralized A Terror Tunnel From Gaza Into Israel

He said he was unaware at the time that Papadopoulos was making similar proposals for Trump to travel to Russian Federation, though he acknowledged he had received some of Papadopoulos' emails about Russian Federation.

He also said he told Sam Clovis, a former co-chairman and policy adviser to Trump's campaign, about his trip.

But Sessions shot the idea down, Gordon said.

Questioned by the committee, Page again denied meeting Sechin - but acknowledged he had met with other officials who work for Rosneft, the company Sechin leads, including the head of investor relations.

Page said he reported back to other campaign officials about the July 2016 trip, saying in one email that he had received "incredible insights and outreach".

Only 7 percent of Trump voters say they believe that members of the campaign team colluded with Russian Federation.

According to the court documents, Papadopoulos suggested at a campaign meeting in March 2016 that then-candidate Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin meet.
