Modi Govt'Sabotaging Winter Session Says Sonia Jaitley Rejects Allegation

Top sources in the party confirmed to The Hindu that the CWC meeting is the next step in electing Mr. Gandhi as the president of the Congress.

Earlier, all state units and frontal organisations such as the Youth Congress, the Mahila Congress and the Seva Dal unanimously passed resolutions declaring Rahul Gandhi as their president.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) - the party's highest decision-making body - will be meeting on Monday to chalk out a schedule for the party president's election.

It is not clear whether the CWC will decide the role Sonia will play post Rahul's elevation, or convene another meeting later on this.

Praising the former prime minister, Mr Pawar said Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary leader. Sonia Gandhi had been the longest serving President of the grand old Congress Party.

Congress election committee has send a tentative schedule wherein November 21 has been fixed as the date to file nomination and December 1 as the date for withdrawal of candidature.

Ezekiel Elliott suspended again; Could miss three divisional matchups
Elliott will now miss games against the Falcons, Eagles, Chargers, Redskins, Giants, and Raiders. If there are no further interruptions, Elliott will be out until Week 16.

With his election, party leaders are hoping, both ends would be achieved.

The party sources said the election process was likely to be completed before the Gujarat Assembly elections, which starts on December 9.

On the last day of filing the nomination, if no other contestant files his/her nomination against Gandhi, then he will be declared president unopposed.

A report in The Indian Express quotes party sources saying that the Mullappally Ramachandran-headed central election authority, which oversees conduct of the organisational polls, has submitted multiple schedules to the Congress president.

Rahul Gandhi's elevation looks a mere formality as numerous state units of the Congress have passed resolutions in support of Rahul Gandhi taking over as the new party president.
