Arkansas, SMU's Chad Morris agree to 6-year contract

Chad Morris has left SMU and is the new head football coach at the University of Arkansas, after days of speculation.

The 49-year-old Morris, a longtime Texas high school coach and former Clemson offensive coordinator, agreed Wednesday to a six-year contract worth $3.5 million annually.

SMU went 7-5 in the 2017 regular season and finished eighth in the country while averaging 40.2 points per game and more than 300 yards passing per contest, ranked 16th in the nation. He has a career record of 14-22 in his three seasons.

Tiger Woods Faces Long Odds
For the first time in almost 10 months, Tiger Woods will tee up in a competitive golf event this week. Looking back on it now, it looked like I was playing in slow-mo".

The Razorbacks have been mired in mediocrity since back-to-back double-digit-win seasons in 2010-11 in Bobby Petrino's final years with the program. Now that SMU program is going to a bowl game and I think they're in the top 10 in the country in scoring offense. The bowl berth this year is the first since a 2012 Hawaii Bowl win over Fresno State.

Morris is a native of Edgewood, Texas, about 60 miles east of Dallas, and attended college at Texas A&M, where he earned a degree in mathematics in 1992. He and his wife, Paula, have two children, a daughter, Mackenzie, and son, Chandler. He took over a team that was 1-11 and will leave one that has a winning record.

"As we began our search for the next head football coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Chad Morris was a name that quickly emerged as someone that would be an excellent choice for our program". He was sacked a day later.
