BJP on way to big victory in UP civic polls

The 84 km-long Indo Nepal border has been sealed ahead of the third phase of polls

Kolkata: Joining the chorus with BSP chief Mayavati, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav blamed the "EVM tampering" as the reason behind civic poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, adding though BJP won the polls, the winning percentage of the party is low.

The UP civic poll results would give a strong boost to the BJP ahead of the crucial Gujarat Assembly elections where polling is scheduled for December 9 and December 14.

BJP's Yogi Adityanath was the star campaigner for Uttar pradesh local body elections.

Without taking Gandhi's name, he said, "It will be better for those criticising the Gujarat model of development that they learn from the defeat in Amethi civic polls and come on the ground to do some work, rather than loosing arrows in the air". BJP sources said a major highlight of the current round election was complete polarisation of votes.
