The seven-year investigation has been one of the Memphis Police Department's most high-profile unsolved cases.

Wright's decomposing, bullet riddled body was found in a Memphis suburb in July of 2010.

That process led to several recent revelations in a case many expected would turn cold.

Wright-Robinson's arrest came after the December 5 indictment of Billy R. Turner in Wright's death.

Investigators found the alleged murder weapon in a lake near Walnut, Mississippi on November 9th of this year. Turner has pleaded not guilty.

FOX13 has learned that Lorenzen Wright's ex-wife, Sherra Wright, has been arrested and jailed in California.

"The attempted murder charge is about a prior attempt to kill Lorenzen Wright, officials confirmed", noted Katie Fretland, Yolanda Jones and Marc Perrusquia in the Commercial Appeal report.

A release from the Shelby County District Attorney's office says Turner and Sherra Wright conspired to kill Lorenzen Wright.

Lorenzen Wright's former personal assistant also claimed she had audio tapes that show Sherra Wright made threatening comments about her ex-husband.

Wright was questioned about her involvement by Sports Illustrated in 2015 as part of a collaborative effort by the magazine and Fox Sports 1.

Wright-Robinson published a book, "Mr. Tell Me Anything".

Sherra is the mother of Lorenzen's six children and moved to Riverside, California after successfully suing to obtain access to her ex-husband's life insurance and retirement funds.

After a pause, she responded, "At first, I'm a wife, then I'm a mother, and then thirdly I'm an author". Sherra reportedly said that "99.99 percent" of the book involved true stories of her life with Lorenzen, according to the Commercial Appeal. "The law enforcement should do what's best to find out who's the killer".

Wright was a first-round draft pick of the Clippers in 1996 out of the University of Memphis.

Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings said Saturday that Sherra Wright has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Wright, who played for five teams over 13 seasons as a forward and center in the National Basketball Association. That's when his body was found in a field by Callis Cutoff Road near Hacks Cross and Winchester in southeast Memphis.
