Colts take Bradley Chubb in Mel Kiper mock draft 1.0

ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. said Thursday he and fellow draftnik Todd McShay were discussing the Salmon River High grad. Browns fans aren't going to like it.

There are plenty of good arguments to say Allen will be a very good pro and a first-round pick because when he makes his throws and is not going off script he looks the part of a very, very good quarterback. But it's not the quarterback you'd think.

That's certainly not the first name we had in mind when it comes to the Falcons' choices. It's a controversial prediction.

"My evaluations on this quarterback class are really close", Kiper wrote.

However, the idea that this year's class is heavy on talented quarterbacks rings true - Kiper's top two picks are quarterbacks, with three QBs in the top five, and four overall in the first round.

Extending CHIP Would Actually Save Taxpayers Money: CBO
How could spending money on children's health care result in net savings in the long run? I have long supported the CHIP program. Elizabeth Warren, who said that fund is critical for children's health, too. (It's a five-year funding bill.) But no matter.

Kiper completely dismissed the completion percentage on "SportsCenter" Thursday saying Allen had little talent around him and played in tough conditions as well.

Allen appeared in 11 games this season, throwing for 1,812 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. And Kiper believes Allen has it. At 6-4, 275 pounds, Green has a tremendous frame, and I think he'll be impressive in workouts.

The next Alabama player taken in the mock draft is defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne, 17th overall by the San Diego Chargers.

Currently, Kiper has Wyoming's Josh Allen going No. 1 to the Cleveland Browns, UCLA's Josh Rosen going No. 2 to the New York Giants, USC's Sam Darnold going No. 5 to the Denver Broncos, and Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield going No. 13 to the Washington Redskins. The Patriots will also have a pick in the first half of the second round as a result of the Jimmy Garoppolo trade. According to Kiper, Scarbrough is a fringe NFL player, likely to be selected in the later rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft according to Charlie Potter of 247Sports.

The 2018 NFL Draft will be held April 26-28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
