Trump Just Dropped a Few Bombshells on West Wing Reporters

Trump v. Mueller: risks in a political showdown

Asked if he was anxious Sessions was questioned by the special counsel, Trump said: "No, not at all".

Trump, during his exchange with reporters on Wednesday, said his interview would be "subject to my lawyers" but that he would personally like to do it.

In March, Sessions recused himself from anything to do with investigations involving the 2016 election, a move that meant he had no power to influence Mueller's probe.

Mueller's team is also examining whether Trump obstructed justice when he dismissed former FBI Director James Comey a year ago.

Last week, Attorney General Jeff Sessions was interviewed for several hours by Mueller's investigators, according to Justice Department officials.

Former US Attorney Preet Bharara, who himself was sacked by Trump last March, offered similar comments to the network, saying one doesn't know if the eported Mueller effort will lead to anything at all.

Sessions was the first USA senator to endorse Trump's candidacy and served as a campaign adviser before the Republican president appointed him as the top US law enforcement official.

Comey told a congressional panel last June that during a White House encounter, Trump expressed his hope that the bureau would end its investigation of Flynn's contacts with Russian officials, raising questions as to whether Trump obstructed justice.

Andrew McCabe, who took over the Federal Bureau of Investigation after the president fired its previous director, James Comey, last May, said he found Mr Trump's Oval Office question "disturbing".

"I'm looking forward to it, actually", Mr Trump told reporters at the White House. Cobb also clarified if the special counsel does call upon Trump, his attorney would be there to guide him through the meeting. Sessions was in charge of Trump's foreign policy team during the 2016 election, and helped formulate the president's policy towards the country.

"Frankly, this administration, we have said it time and time before, there was no collusion", Sanders said.

The biggest controversy involving Sessions is a meeting that occurred during the campaign where an advisor to Trump, George Papadopoulos, proposed the candidate meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The interview comes as Mueller is investigating whether Trump's actions in office, including the firing of FBI Director James Comey, constitute improper efforts to stymie the FBI investigation.

On Wednesday, Trump again criticized the Russian Federation investigation, saying he no knowledge of any meddling during the election and did not need any help to defeat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. "I'm not at all concerned", he said.
