Get Ready For Another Week Of Memo Madness — This Time Over Democrats' Response

President Donald Trump's legal team backs the idea of appointing a second special counsel to investigate the FBI and Justice Department, a White House spokesman said Monday.

The senator's letter said if the Democratic memo is not released it "will confirm the American people's worst fears".

A White House spokesman said Trump would "consider" the Democratic memo's release just as he had the Republican document. "I think the president would be hard-pressed to try to suppress this memo, particularly since they claim they're releasing the GOP memo in the interest of transparency".

Schiff and other Democrats charge that Nunes' memo is inaccurate and misleading, and the 10-page Schiff memo goes point-by-point to counter the charges in the Nunes memo.

Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee will push for a vote to release Rep. Adam Schiff's rebuttal to the Nunes memo.

At issue is whether the White House will allow Bannon to answer questions about his time in the Trump administration.

Trump has until the end of the week to decide whether to allow the Democratic memo's release.

Nunes declined to comment after the closed-door meeting. Even if texts between FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page regarding the special counsel investigation were innocent venting that did absolutely nothing to corrode the rigid professionalism of the duo, we're talking about an investigation that Democrats hope will lead to the impeachment and removal of the president.

We have an update now on a story we've been following today about dueling memos from the House Intelligence Committee.

The warrant involved former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and was renewed three times since October 2016.

Laura Ingraham said on Fox News that "the predicate for the entire Trump-Russia collusion canard was built on the foundation of the fake Steele dossier".

Shopian army firing: Third civilian dies of bullet injury

Meanwhile, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) "leaked" a six-page response to the FISA memo, in which he argues that the FBI's acquiring of a FISA warrant based on the dubious and unverified Christopher Steele dossier was perfectly fine because of Steele's solid reputation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and because the allegations made within the dossier have not been disproven.

Both Nunes and the White House have rejected allegations that they collaborated on the crafting of the memo, suspicions that several top Democrats have raised.

LUCAS: Well, he went after Schiff on Twitter, as you said.

Former CIA Director Mike Hayden worries that the memo's release will damage congressional oversight and the effectiveness of law enforcement.

Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy, who helped write the Republican memo, told CBS programme Face the Nation on Sunday: "There is a Russian Federation investigation without a [Steele] dossier".

Overall, most of the public still believes that Trump or someone from his campaign worked with Russian Federation to influence the 2016 USA presidential election, allegations that Moscow and Trump have repeatedly denied.

Rep. Devin Nunes is quickly becoming President Donald Trump's favorite lawmaker in Washington.

"Representative Devin Nunes, a man of tremendous courage and grit, may someday be recognized as a Great American Hero for what he has exposed and what he has had to endure!" he tweeted two hours later.

"The dossier is central to the Russian Federation collusion theory targeting Trump, and that's the basis for the appointment of Robert Mueller", Judicial Watch's Tom Fitton, a guest on Tucker Carlson's Fox News show, said on Friday night.

Trump is expected to be briefed on the memo Tuesday or Wednesday, after the White House counsel's office and National Security Council staff have thoroughly reviewed the document, a White House official said.
