Suns to acquire Elfrid Payton from Magic

The Orlando Magic have traded point guard Elfrid Payton to the Phoenix Suns for a second-round pick in the 2018 National Basketball Association draft, reports say. The Suns have been on the hunt for a point guard to start alongside Devin Booker, and with Payton, they have found one at least for the moment.

The Suns favor from this trade immediately, while the Magic will have to hope the Grizzlies second-round pick converts into a future asset during this upcoming NBA Draft.

The Suns have had a void at the point guard position since trading away starter Eric Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks during the early stretch of the season.

Payton is averaging a career-best 13 points on 37 percent shooting from three.
