Apple is reportedly working on its own MicroLED screens

Apple is testing its own microLED display technology to be used in future devices: Report

Apple is also designing its own thin-film transistors and screen drivers, key components in display assemblies.

Using different light-emitting compounds, MicroLED screens are slimmer, brighter and use less power than the OLED counterparts. However, the California facility is too small for mass-production. The company is already enhancing its capabilities in the semiconductor space, and now, a Bloomberg report claims that the iPhone maker is secretly testing its own displays. The company's move into display showcases long-term potential to hurt range of suppliers from screen manufacturers such as Japan Display Inc., LG Display, Samsung Electronics Co., which manufacture chip-screen interface.

However, it's also much more hard to manufacture and hasn't yet been produced at commercial scale anywhere, although Samsung hopes to bring a MicroLED TV it showcased at CES to market this year. Apple now relies on companies such as Samsung and LG for its device displays, but that could change if the efforts in its Santa Clara facility pay off. However, my own personal six-pack challenge will be sitting at home and getting through a full six-pack during this match. At the end though, Randy Orton delivered an incredible RKO to win the US Title for the very first time in his career.

For this, Apple acquired a start-up called LuxVue in 2014 and followed up with gradual efforts to see how things pan out. MicroLED is the upcoming (futuristic) display technology that improves on the current standard, OLED. The drop of shares in Japan Display is 4.4 percent, Sharp drop by 3.3 percent and Samsung by 1.4 percent. That apart the iPhone and the iPad touch displays are sourced from Sharp and LG. According to the people familiar to the matter, MicroLED Apple Watch prototypes do not function fully yet.

MicroLED manufacturing Apple is increasingly discontented with the state of its supply chain. The goal: to eventually design screens in-house. According to Bloomberg, several of these suppliers suffered in the Asian markets after Apple's development plans were reported. Even so, the first mass-market products that will include MicroLED screens will not be ready this year and perhaps not even the next. All these tiny LEDs must be individually manufactured and calibrated. Another facility nearby works on technology that handles LED transfers: the process of placing individual pixels into a MicroLED screen.

The manufacturing building has 60,000 square feet and and is the second publicly known lease in Santa Clara by Apple.
