Sen. Cruz, Democratic challenger O'Rourke secure party nominations in Texas primary

That Mr. Cruz would move so quickly to try to skewer his opponent is a measure of how seriously he is taking the challenge from Mr. O'Rourke, even though no Democrat has won a statewide office since 1994.

On Tuesday, Raju tweeted that Cruz said he was "absolutely" rattled about Democratic turnout in Tuesday's primaries.

Hernandez, a 32-year-old member of the Democratic Socialists of America, surprised some political observers by beating O'Rourke handily in dozens of counties, including nearly every one along the U.S. -Mexico border. In 2017, O'Rourke scored a similar victory against Cruz by raising $2.4 million more than him. Robert Krueger in 1993.

Shortly after the race was called, Cruz released a radio jingle attacking O'Rourke for his positions on immigration and gun laws, and for going by the name Beto instead of his given name, Robert.

"I remember reading stories, little Robert wanted to fit in".

In December, the FCC reversed these net neutrality rules and last month published its new order in the Federal Register. Inslee said he's confident the states are within their rights to regulate internet service even though the FCC says no.

However, the Republican senator also goes by a different name than his given name, Rafael Edward Cruz. "Not a chance he'll get a vote from millions of Texans". Cruz's given name is Rafael.

But O'Rourke said he doesn't plan on getting involved in political mud-slinging.

"We can save more lives in this country and in our state, and I'm going to do everything that I can to do that", O'Rourke said. "There's really not much I need to say about Sen".

Despite visiting 226 of Texas' 254 counties, receiving glowing national coverage and out-fundraising Cruz three of the last four months, Tuesday's Texas primary underscored the daunting task that lies ahead for O'Rourke. "I trust their ability to make their own judgments". Turnout is up over 100 percent in the Democratic primaries so far during early voting and it's down in early Republican voting. "Congressman O'Rourke is a left-wing, liberal Democrat, and is running as a vocal proponent of amnesty and open borders", Cruz said in the statement on Tuesday. "But the good news is there are more conservatives than there are liberals in Texas".
