Apple starts battery replacement program for some 13-inch MacBook Pros


The company says that a limited number of these MacBook Pro models, units feature a component, that can fail and in reaction can cause the built-in battery to expand. If your device is eligible Apple will replace your battery for free.

Since Apple has not mentioned that the 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro models with Touch Bar require servicing, it only means that the owners of the base model will need to go to their nearest Apple service outlet. The affected 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar)'s were produced between October 2016 and October 2017. The exact nature of the problem is left unmentioned, though battery expansion woes are nothing new for manufacturers companies relying on lithium-ion technology.
