NYC could get 7 inches of snow today

But a breakthrough finally came late past year, when a police sketch artist read about Mr Wang and chose to help by producing a drawing of what Qifeng might look like as an adult. It was shared online thousands of times, and eventually reached Wang's daughter.

Kang, who is now 28 years old and living with her husband and two children in northern China, saw the picture and was shaken by the similarities between herself and the sketch.

Kang got in touch with Wang and after they got talking, she discovered she had some really unusual traits with his missing daughter. He even used a picture of his other daughter to let everyone know that she looked like her. Authorities tried to help but DNA tests from several women showed that it was not Qifeng.

The details surrounding Kang Ying's disappearance have not yet been revealed.

He also shared the news with his friends on social media, telling them: "My efforts of 24 years were not wasted!" Kang, who had reportedly been told that she was adopted, lamented how she grew up in Sichuan town, merely 20 kilometers away from her birth parents. "Now we can finally meet again", said Wang, as reported by the Beijing Youth Daily newspaper.

As for what happened on that fateful day, 24 years ago, for now, it remains a mystery.

Surrounded by a huge media pack, Kang Ying embraced her parents.
