Police respond to "active shooter situation" at YouTube's California headquarters

San Bruno Police provided updates at 2:30 p.m. local time, and said the situation has ended and three people were injured.

Images from local news network affiliates, including KPIX and KTVU, are showing images of people leaving the YouTube building with their hands raised.

YouTube product builder Todd Sherman tweeted that he saw "blood drips" on the floor as he fled the building.

About 1,700 people work at the campus. Google, which owns the website, posted on Twitter that the company is coordinating with authorities.

According to San Bruno City Manager Connie Jackson, there is no current threat to the public.

CBS San Francisco reporter Andria Borba said at least two Homeland Security units were responding.

TV helicopter video showed heavily-armed officers patting down people grouped outside the headquarters. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Explosives' San Francisco field division has been dispatched to the scene. Hudson said he's become used to hearing about gun violence but has never been so close to it before.

San Bruno police said they could not provide more information. It feels like it could really be anyone.

Calls and emails to YouTube representatives were not immediately returned. YouTube has a NY location in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.

The White House said President Donald Trump had been briefed and that his administration was monitoring the ongoing situation in San Bruno.

Sherman said he initially thought the sound of people running was an "earthquake" before realising a shooter had stormed the building. "Thank you to our phenomenal Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders that are now on the scene".
