Ravens agree to deal with QB Robert Griffin III

The Baltimore Ravens have signed quarterback Robert Griffin III to a one-year deal, general manager Ozzie Newsome confirmed during the team's pre-draft news conference April 4.

Griffin will compete for a backup QB role behind Joe Flacco in Baltimore.

Newsome said Griffin went to work out for a second team after throwing for the Ravens last week.

Girffin hasn't played since the 20016 season.

Griffin took to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate his signing with the Ravens.

Griffin, remained un-signed for the entirety of the 2017 season, last played in the National Football League for the Browns during in 2016. But Griffin was looking for some guarantees before working out with the team past year.

The following season Griffin was set back by a dislocated ankle and sustaining a concussion during the 2015 preseason.

He was the No. 2 pick in the 2012 draft and counted on to be the franchise quarterback for the Washington Redskins. He's completed 63.3 percent of his 1,210 attempts for 8,983 yards, 42 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. I know RGIII - he'll speak to this - I felt like he really wanted to be here.
