NEET 2018: Over 13 lakh students to appear at 2255 examination centres

Angry citizens from Tamil Nadu are sure it was a move to discriminate and harass students from Tamil Nadu.

About 1,20,792 candidates are appearing for the test from the state, now underway at 226 centres spread across the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Alapuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur.

Some of the Tamil Nadu students also have their centres in states like Rajasthan and Sikkim. The NEET also got a boost after Supreme Court stayed a Madras High Court order directing NEET to set up more examination centres in TN itself. NEET 2018 will be conducted at 2,255 exam centres spread across 136 cities in the country.

Sanyam responded to this outrage bysaying, "the board has taken care to allocate centres in the nearest city to every candidate who has been allowed out-station centres, considering their choices". According to the report, Stalin said in a statement that "the Central government was not taking the interests of the students from Tamil Nadu into consideration and was causing unnecessary confusion".
