North Korea will SHUT nuke test site next month

Trump has said he hopes to resolve the standoff between Washington and Pyongyang over North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs in what would be the first meeting between a North Korean leader and a sitting US president.

A longtime expert on North Korea - involved with the rogue regime since the early 1990s and a Democrat - praised President Donald Trump for bringing the United States into diplomatic talks with dictator Kim Jong Un.

Kim also expressed optimism about his meeting with Trump, saying the US president will learn he's "not a person" to fire missiles towards the US, Moon's spokesman Yoon Young-chan said.

"There is no reason for us to possess nuclear weapons. if mutual trust with the United States is built through frequent meetings from now on, and an end to the war and non-aggression are promised". Indeed North Korea signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1985 and in 1992 North and South Korea sign a "joint declaration of the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula".

According to the New York Times, Kim's concession comes as the dictator agreed to allow both United States and South Korean nuclear experts into his country to examine his facilities and testing sites.

North Korea has conducted several tests at the Punggye-ri facility located underneath mountains, which Kim Jong-un claims remains in "very good condition" though experts say much of the site has been destroyed from repeated explosions.

"I believe that one of the reasons that Kim Jong-un is engaged in this conversation is that the pressure campaign that has been applied by President Trump, and indeed by the world, has put them in an even more tenuous, more hard position".

Although it was not included in the official summit agreement, the North's decision to abolish Pyongyang Time, named after its capital, was made personally by Mr. Kim, South Korean officials said. "I leave... I'm not going to give you what's going to actually happen because we don't really know", the President added, to loud cheers. "The two different clocks for Seoul and [Pyongyang] hanging in the Peace House broke his heart", Yoon said of Kim.

The unified time zone was meant to ease communication between the South and US, Yoon said.

A readout of Trump's call with Abe said the leaders "reiterated the need for North Korea to abandon all weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs" and that Trump noted "he will urge North Korea to promptly resolve its abductions of Japanese citizens".

Mr Bolton said the United States had the "Libya model" in mind, referring to a 2003 agreement that resulted in the country relinquishing its nuclear weapons. We're not going to make promises. "Things are going very well, time and location of meeting with North Korea is being set".
