England were not aiming for victory against Belgium - Southgate

Belgium made 9 changes and England eight as star strikers Romalu Lukaku and Harry Kane were rested.

Belgium will face Brazil or Mexico in the quarter-final if they overcome Japan, while England arguably have an easier potential last-feight clash with Sweden or Switzerland if they beat Colombia.

Below are more details on the broadcast, which will be aired in Spanish and will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of the game nearly every football fan has been looking forward to, England vs Belgium.

The teams feature 35 players from last season's Premier League between them, including the entire England roster, and are playing for the top spot in Group G as they both have two victories in two matches.

Colombia coach Jose Pekerman said he was relieved his team - who reached the quarter-finals in Brazil in 2014 - were going through from a tough group. It was Belgium's first win over England since 1936, and extends The Red Devils unbeaten streak to 22 matches.

It was obvious Belgium's reserves of strength are vastly superior to England's - Martinez's dirt-trackers, to use a rugby phrase, are fitter for goal than Southgate's.

With the victory, Belgium gets what appears to be an easier match in the next round against Japan on Monday in Rostov-on-Don.

Adnan Januzaj celebrates after scoring the only goal of Belgium's 1-0 win over England on Thursday.

El-Hadary: I apologise to Egyptian fans
He became the first player to be sent off for the World Cup hosts since Itumeleng Khune's red card for South Africa in 2010. He broke clear on goal but, after drawing Al Mosailem, uncharacteristically dinked wide of the right-hand post.

EU's Juncker says backing of Irish Brexit position will not change
This week the European Union warned that more work was needed on how to deal with the 300-mile frontier post-Brexit. They also call for "further clarity from the United Kingdom as regards its position on the future relationship".

United States leaves ‘hypocritical’ UN Human Rights Council, citing China and Israel
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Raad al-Hussein on Monday called on Washington to halt its " unconscionable " policy. Meanwhile the campaign group Human Rights Watch criticised President Trump's human rights policy as "one-dimensional".

What is likely, however, is that Belgium coach Roberto Martinez and his English counterpart Gareth Southgate will rest some of their regular starters and give match time to back-up squad players.

This was more like the England we have been used to.

England didn't pick up a single yellow card in the game, though Belgium's win negated the prematch hype around another round of 16 match decided by "fair play".

The result means that England will now face Colombia in Moscow on Tuesday with kick-off at 7pm.

The Three Lions were given an injury scare ahead of their first knockout-round tie with the enforced substitution of John Stones, and they were given a further setback on the field as they were behind with six minutes of the second half played. The victor enters the side of the bracket that already features France, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay, while the loser goes into the half with Spain, Croatia, Russia, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland.

Had England striker Harry Kane not scored an added-time victor against Tunisia in their first group game in Russian Federation, things could have been very different, noted Martinez.

Neither side has had the best of tournaments, but both have a game - Uruguay's resounding defeat of Russian Federation and Portugal's draw with Spain - that shows they can contend with anyone.

It's not the end of the World Cup journey, though, as we finished as runner-up in the group stages, and are through to the knockout stages. It felt like a proper World Cup match in the stands, even if it was a unusual affair on it, with two of the best benches in World Cup history.
