LeBron James’ son likely to enroll in L.A. high school

Reports: Danny Green opts into contract with San Antonio Spurs

The Lakers believe that landing Leonard could help them attract free agents like LeBron James and Paul George this offseason.

Wojnarowski notes, the Lakers have expressed a willingness to teams to take on 2018-19 salary for the chance to secure a future first-round pick, which could then be used to sweeten a prospective trade opportunity.

The Lakers legend stated that he would be "very excited" if his team is able to sign both LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard this summer via free agency and trade respectively.

The Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly made offers for Leonard. If the Spurs do, in fact, trade Leonard - expect his All-Star running mate with the Spurs, LaMarcus Aldridge, to also become available.

The potential price for Los Angeles to acquire Leonard is "substantial", which could include some combination of Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, a sign-and-trade agreement with restricted free agent Julius Randle and future first-round picks going to San Antonio.

The deputies were attacked by an inmate while driving a transport vehicle near the Wyandotte County courthouse in Kansas City. Bailiff said the inmate was being taken across the street from the jail, to the services building, for a court hearing.

A trade would nullify that, but Leonard reportedly is not anxious about the financial implications.

Both George and James have until Friday to decide if they want to opt out of the final year of their contract and enter free agency and that is when things will really start to heat up. If he's serious about his employment with the team, swinging a deal for Leonard would make him a man of his word. A lot of people are convinced LeBron James will sign with the Lakers.

Leonard, who finished in the top three of NBA MVP voting in 2016 and 2017, remains under contract for the next season and has a $21.3 million player option for 2019-20.

The race for Leonard is on, and if the Spurs play their hand wisely, an ugly situation could end up with them bringing in a haul of assets to jumpstart a rebuild.
