A day in the life of James Corden often involves cajoling celebrities into his vehicle as he cruises in Los Angeles, where they enjoy conversation and belt out songs together as part of the "Carpool Karaoke" segment on Corden's Late Late Show.

During the episode, Sir Paul and James drove around the music legend's hometown of Liverpool, including the iconic Penny Lane and his old barbershop referenced in the song.

Macca and James also treated fans to an emotional version of his Let It Be anthem, which stemmed from his late mother reassuring him in a dream. "My dad would be in there (the next room) watching telly, we'd be in here, and we'd just written She Loves You, which was a big Beatles hit".

As their journey continued, McCartney shared the story behind the making of that tune and others, like the early hit "She Loves You"; gave Corden a tour of the home where he wrote numerous early Beatles tunes with John Lennon; and eventually surprised some unsuspecting pub customers with a live concert and emotional rendition of "Hey Jude".

Meanwhile, Paul McCartney has announced the details of his Egypt Station album. The elder McCartney suggested his son change the lyrics to "She Loves You, Yes, Yes, Yes", but Paul refused.

The record, which will be released on 7 September through Capitol Records, features his double A-side single I Don't Know/Come On To Me, which he shared earlier this week.
