Russian Federation should be invited back to the summits of leading advanced countries, U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters as he departed the White House for the Group of Seven meeting in Canada.

In the wake of the reports about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and the ongoing investigation into whether the Kremlin colluded with the Trump campaign, the president faced some severe pushback for his suggestion to welcome Russia back.

Peskov's comments come a day after Trump called for Russian Federation to be readmitted to the group of the world's leading nations, known as the G7, a step that would end Russia's global isolation over its 2014 annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.
