Apple expected to unveil new iPhone models on September 12

A photo of Apple's next generation "iPhone XS" models has been leaked by 9to5Mac.

9to5Mac also has images of the new Apple Watch Series 4, which will likely be unveiled at the event as well. Purportedly dubbed the "iPhone XS", the phone appears in a gold finish featuring a 5.8-inch model mimicking the current iPhone X and a 6.5-inch model similar to the iPhone 8 Plus.

This is a September Apple event, so we'll likely see the company debut the newest iPhones.

The two OLED models will be successors to last year's iPhone X, which did away with the home button and introduced Face ID technology.

This year is expected to be an "S year", which fits with the purported leaked name "iPhone XS".

The new iPhones should also get a speed boost, thanks to a new 7-nanometer A12 processor that will reportedly offer 70 percent faster speeds in certain situations.

The company's website lists "iPhone XS Plus" and "iPhone XS" as options in their drop-down menu under iPhone cases for sale.

On Thursday, Apple issued invitations to its upcoming september 12 press event, which will reportedly debut the new phones as well as other new devices and upgrades. "In addition, Apple is said to be releasing an affordable 6.1" version that uses an LCD screen which would come in a variety of body colours.

As for the Apple Watch Series 4, early reports point to a new design that keeps the overall aesthetic the same but minimizes the bezel. Looking at the new watch face, we can see the UI spill to the sides, nearly up to the bezels of the watch.

New watch faces would make sense with a newly designed Apple Watch.

Analysts expect that Apple may also show off other hardware, including a new Apple Watch, new wireless AirPod headphones and possibly a new model of the iPad Pro, according to Bloomberg News.
