Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will bring a longer battery life -- and Fortnite

South Korean tech giant Samsung is going to take the wraps off its 2018 flagship phablet - Galaxy Note 9 - at an event to be held in NY. According to Anandtech's live blog, Samsung's Bixby assistant is now "more conversational, personal, and useful", and it has more powerful and context-aware queries on the Note 9.

Rounding out the spec list for Samsung's new Galaxy Note 9 is Android 8.1 Oreo, NFC and MST for mobile payments, wireless charging, iris scanning, and a rear fingerprint reader that's been moved to a spot below the rear camera to make it easier to reach.

In fact, we're not even sure how the Galaxy Note 9 is creating this second computing environment over a simple HDMI connection - Samsung representatives weren't at liberty to discuss it during a briefing event.

What's new is its AI Scene Optimiser which works like Huawei's Master AI feature on the Mate 10 and P20 series.

The Note 9 launches with Android 8.1, which would have been fine a few weeks ago. This is still mostly your standard Note phone, though.

If you happen to be the proud owner of a new Samsung Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4 device then you also get exclusive access to a Galaxy-themed outfit in the game.

A 128GB model is also available that comes with 6GB of RAM while the larger capacity model has 8GB of RAM.

Google to launch Pixel Stand charging dock with Pixel 3
As well they should be - Google Pixel 2 is still one of the best camera phones in the world almost a year after initial release. This update has been rumored for a while now, and the advent of the Pixel Stand all but confirms it.

The phablet also comes with an updated version of Samsung's signature S Pen, which will not only allow owners to draw with their phones but click to take selfies and interact with their phone. No surprises with the price, but you can get up to £300 off if you trade in an old Galaxy smartphone.

Other options are available - Samsung is spoiling us for choice!

It also features up to 512GB of internal storage depending on which variant fans choose to pick up. One of the 12MP sensors is a Dual Pixel, dual aperture camera with f/1.5 and f/2.4 apertures, and the other is a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom.

While the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 isn't as exciting as the Note 8, it's still a very, very refined and capable flagship smartphone.

Despite being a productivity-focused smartphone, Samsung appears to be gearing the Note9 as an ultimate gaming device. Keeping with tradition, the Note 9 will also have a 512GB microSD card slot, so users can get over 1 TB of storage. However, if battery life and more storage are more important to you, the Galaxy Note9 with 128GB storage at RM3,699 is still worth the extra topup.

Because the Galaxy Note 9 can stand in for both the mouse and keyboard in the DeX computing experience, it can function without any extra hardware beyond the cable and a monitor (or even a TV if you want to sit really close up).
